Does your heart skip a beat or drop to the floor?
OK... No Michelle is what my clients tell me! My clients usually use the H... word when describing shopping for clothing. My favourite haunts and places to shop will attest to me being in their stores with clients a lot lately and that is the inspiration for this piece.
I have been gently reminded again that the more we know of ourselves, and our preferences, the easier it is to make decisions and shop for clothing. Clients share that they experience unpleasant physical symptoms around shopping and the mere thought of it, does not make their heart skip a beat!
My focus is to engage you in the time we are together and help make this process feel valuable, seamless, and even fun. I realize this is not a quick fix because some clients come with very heavy hearts not full of sefl-esteem. Perhaps you are in a life transition and it is not easy to look in the mirro, let alone say something kind while doing it. I have a strategy for that when we shop and it is really fun to see what happens to my clients and their face... nothing short of a miracle occurs.
As one very wise client said to me recently "Michelle, your job is not to fix us, but to educate and coach in areas we know nothing about or have little interest in." The result being that now we can look in the mirror and not feel as though our bodies did not fit into the garment, but that the garment must not be cut for our body type! When my client wrote to me to tell me that finally after all these years - 30+ of dressing as an adult that she now could see it wasn't her and that she didn't feel bad about herself when things didn't fit. It was truly magical and very pivotal.
As a result of time, coaching, guidance and a willingness on your part as the client - you can being to see yourself through loving eyes, along with a gentle heart. When we work together, there is no - you should have thought of that or why did you put that together with that, what were you thinking...
