"HOW ABOUT THAT BATHING SUIT!"

Recently, I went into Brio to hopefully purchase a bathing suit for a trip I was taking.  They have a beautiful selection of colours and styles and because I know my body type, I found it easy to start with colour and then got some in house help with the styles.  They are so professional, knowledgeable and sensitive to the process. 

For example, I chose a halter neckline style to try on because I can wear that neckline in a blouse.  That one, after about 20 became the final basic one I purchased.  If I didn't know about what would work, I probably would have done what the woman beside me did.  Try on a few that I think, not even knowing about size and fit or how they are supposed to fit.  Go into the changeroom alone, not let anyone see, I mean really and then leave.  It is essential to let them come in because most often it is not our body, but the cut and improper fit due to the cut.   It is so much more empowering if we can leave with knowledge, not that it was your body that is wrong.  And of course, the dynamics change when you go into the changeroom and I always have to do a little pick me up self talk.  It is critical to the sucess of the shopping experience to not allow the negative dialogue about areas of my body and that I send loving thoughts to take over - I mean come on, I am a woman who is stripping down in the middle of winter, no tan on my body to help and standing way to close to myself!  Although their mirrors are good ones, nevertheless...

When all was said and done, and of course with a tremendous amount of help, I was able to purchase 2 bathing suits in less than an hour and I love them.  So often, even in shopping for clothes, my experience and what I am teaching clients is that the cut, line and proportion are key to the overall success of the fit.
