Does it really matter if you can see a colour difference between your chin and neck?
You bet it does! Is it always easy to determine, NO! I was recently shopping with one of my clients who is in her late sixties. She had her colours done in the eighties when it was popular and everything was working for her until her hair went from almost jet black to salt and pepper. Her makeup was not working as well anymore and as she put it, maybe never did. We went shopping for new foundation. I want to share her story as it is so common and easy to fix.
She is a true Winter, which just simply means in this case for foundation that she needs it to match her pink undertone. However, it does not outwardly look pink, it coule potentially look more olive. This was a very tricky and touchy situation for us to determine her ideal colour. Mainly because depending on the person who is helping you, they may or may not be great at what they do. The woman who helped us as my client pointed out, clearly wanted to get us out the door. This was very evident to me when the make-up artist chose a colour that left a brown line on the edge of her jawline that it was not pink. That was even before going outside!
Sometimes you need to go outside to access more daylight and that should be ok to do. We had four choices and then finally chose the one that I suggested, which indeed looked more olive on top, but with her blue undertone blended beautifully.
